Stroke is a common and devastating disease. Currently, the majority of stroke patients still lack effective treatment and we want to make a difference. We believe that we can help more stroke victims to live longer, better, and happier by developing safe, effective, affordable, and easily applicable drugs that may potentially benefit the large segment of untreated or undertreated stroke patients. Unfortunately, the current dominant drug discovery paradigm is unable to solve this problem. We decided to return to the fundamentals of drug discovery while keeping up with new technologies. We have found magic weapons and embarked on to employ these weapons to solve the problem. Our powerful weapons include chemocentric approaches, phenotypic screening, and magic shotguns (selectively non-selective drugs). The unmet medical needs, the tremendous costs of treatment, and the huge socioeconomic burden of post-stroke care will make even modest advances in brain protection and stroke rehabilitation highly rewarding.
